Newcastle Wedding Photography: Ben + Sara Jane

We had honor not too long ago of capturing Ben and Sara Jane's special day. With clouds looming on the horizon the day before we did our sun salutations and prayed it would show up for the big day.

We were pleasantly greeted by the sun on our drive up and arrived to a house in full morning prep swing with the lovely Sara Jane already rocking her dress looking like she was ready for the Met Ball.

We were promptly whisked away to our destination in plush comfort of a stretched hummer ready to rock that ceremony.

The boys looked quite relaxed as I imagine they had a comparatively mellow morning smiling and joking among themselves. Ben unrecognizable to me as the last time I had seen him he was sporting quite the beard.

With what seemingly was one of the quickest ceremonies I have every seen performed by the wonderfully entertaining and jolly Sue Cutts, the couple received their congratulatory hugs and kisses and the bridal party headed off to tear up the Newcastle surrounds with what can only be described as immense modelling prowess.

After doing their modelling thang we returned to the reception venue and let the festivities kick off as this crew were ready to party.

It was a wonderful day spent in the company of Ben and Sara Jane and their lovely friends and family. I had the pleasure of meeting Sara Jane's grandparents who have been together 60 plus year together despite her nan once being wooed by Nat King Cole himself... Unforgettable indeed and what a stellar role model by which to follow!!! I hope you enjoy these images as much as we did in making them. Have a lovely weekend.

Engagement Shoot: James + Zara

I had the pleasure of photographing James and Zara after some discussion they agreed to coming on a little adventure with me.

It's far too easy to shoot the same city based locations and a snore for me frankly. Lucky for me James and Zara have wild hearts too. So where better to capture the love they share than in the embrace of nature.

So one lovely Sunday we took a little a trip down the coast and found a few less worn paths and followed them. We saw waterfalls, seascapes and lush once abandoned hideaways.

What you see below are snippets of our wonderful day and hopefully memories Zara and James will treasure.

Sydney Pre-Wedding Shoot: Nadav + Stephanie

I'm not sure Stephanie and Nadav were aware of what they had agreed to when I suggested we head up to the Blue Mountains to shoot. I love the getting up to the mountains and thought they would make a magnificent backdrop for some engagement shots. Luckily though these two are adventurous souls or just my kind of crazy. So adventurous are they that instead of meeting me where we had planned they had wandered off on their own food adventure and I found them at this beautiful open house style cafe.

Either way they bravely accepted my suggestions and off into the mountains we headed. After a week of heavy rain the weather broke and the sun came out to play. What we failed to account for was the muddy paths that resulted.

Like the troopers they are though they happily plowed through as we joked about it being some sort of relationship boot camp, "If they could survive this, the marriage portion would be no issue" This is the kind of positive thinking I love! Hahaha!

While the locations were nothing short of gorgeous I think its Nadav and Stephanie that make these photos. What they share just shines through bring life, warmth and love to every image. I hope that upon seeing these images they agree that it was definitely worth the adventure.

Southern Highlands Wedding: Brendon + Danielle

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of documenting Brendon and Danielle’s wedding in the Southern Highlands and boy did it turn out to be an amazing experience.

The girls spent the morning getting ready in a divine little cottage in Berrima. The place was abuzz with makeup wrapping up and the ladies getting ready with hair and outfits. Danielle apparently had been up since 5am thinking it was an opportune time to make some pancakes. We quietly worked around it all taking the details shot and that stunning sequinned lace dress.

Much the same scene was playing out where the boys and the Brendon’s family were staying as well it seemed. Minus the makeup of course, people just passing time before the church ceremony at St Judes.

St Judes is a quaint little chapel in the heart of the Berrima township and was undergoing restoration at the moment. It was enough to fit those all in attendance and the stunning wood work of the chancel made the perfect backdrop as Brendon and the groomsmen waited with baited breathe for the ladies to arrive.

The ladies eventually arrived, fashionably late as one is suppose to do and the ceremony was underway. With the exchange of vows and wedding bands the two were now husband and wife. The odd tears of joy were shed too naturally.

After the ceremony we moved on to Centennial Vineyards, the reception venue. A beautiful location even in the colder months when the vines are full of fruit. With the last bit of the evening sun slowly vanishing behind a distant hill painting the sky a beautiful colour we shot the last of the location photos before I let my hostages go to enjoy the festivities of the evening.

What made it such an awesome day was all the elements coming together perfectly, weather, location, a wonderful couple and family who made me feel like family too. I can’t thank both Brendon and Danielle enough for allowing us the honor of capturing the day and allowing us to hang out with such salt of the Earth people. I can only hope these photos do it all justice.

Sydney Wedding Photography: Dan + Sam

It was a surprise proposal on a beach in Bali that has lead us to this wonderful day. Dan asked Sam to share her future with him and she joyfully accepted.

I arrived to a house that is calm as Sam feeds her chickens, yes chickens, who wander the front yard. I am more use to pandemonium as people rush around getting ready and trying to force some food down where possible.
